Island Dwellers

This is a studio painting that I painted from a photo I took while visiting Shackleford Island, North Carolina. My husband and I were walking along the beach looking for shells when we came around a bluff and saw these two horses sunning themselves. They were basking so peacefully in the sun, not a care in the world and appeared to be asleep; expect that I noticed one with his eye on us. I felt that I had to capture this special moment in a photo. Ultimately, a painting.
