This is a studio painting from digital images I shot on a working cattle ranch in Mariposa, CA. The cowboys and cowgirl were bringing strays from the mountain pastures and I loved the view and the color harmony of the scene. I first did a small graphite sketch to position the focal area and then painted it using a brush instead of my usual palette knife.
