Flock of Orchids

The delicacy of petals, bold shapes and patterns of orchids are perfect for the watercolor challenges of brush work, wet in wet washes and experimental techniques. I also think the gestures and shapes of orchids can suggest metaphorical narratives without defining those stories with figures. The orchids in this painting reminded me of a group of birds that had just taken off from a branch, so it’s titled “Flock of Orchids”.
