READY TO SEED
This is an oil painting on aluminum panel. It represents a dew covered flowering grass stalk ready to burst with seeds from our garden; not unlike I have felt towards the end of each of my pregnancies :D. I took photographs lying on the ground. I painted directly on the unprepared aluminum panel. I first blocked the large shapes and then continue layering films of paint, adjusting the forms, the tonal values, the edges and the colors. My medium mixtures were made of refined turpentine, linseed oil and linseed stand oil, gradually increasing its fat content with the layers.
