Millbrook Marsh

In 2023 I partnered with ClearWater Conservancy to create an artistic body of work to raise money and awareness for conserving more of our central Pennsylvania landscapes. I hiked along as an artist-in-residence with ClearWater's Centred Outdoors program. A collection of twelve pastel paintings highlights some of my favorite places we visited.

The confluence where Thompson Run joins Slab Cabin Run on its way to the main stem of Spring Creek is a place I love to paint. Each new painting evokes a different mood, a changing season, a shift in colors, a distinct pattern of light. ClearWater’s conservation easement on Millbrook Marsh was signed a few months into my tenure as the Executive Director of ClearWater Conservancy in 2000 and laid the foundation for protection of a rare species, enhanced groundwater recharge, bike trail connections, nature education, and many important community partnerships that make it all possible. Collaboration has always been a hallmark of ClearWater’s successes, from its origin to a future promising exciting new possibilities.
