IT'S MOST GLORIOUS JUST BEFORE SUNRISE

This is a view from my studio. The sky is always beautiful but never the same. Early morning on October the 5th 2022, it was ablaze. Most of the river was quite calm and mirrored those wonderful colors. I started taking photos from 6:40 till sunrise at 6:53. This is what the sky looked like at 6:50. I do all my painting in studio but even if I had wanted too, this was too fleeting a moment to 'plain-air-paint'.
I did this oil painting on linen using Windsor&Newton artist's oil paints and mixtures of turpentine, linseed oil and linseed standoil as a medium. I started by blocking the big shapes. Then I painted multiple layers, adjusting/correcting the tonal values, the shapes, the edges and the colors.
