I turned my back on the trailhead to paint this modern, low, chic desert oasis with its cool landscaping and shadows juxtaposed against the warm jagged desert peaks behind it. Trying to capture the subtle tones warms and cools that typify the surrounding landscape was a wonderful challenge of this plein air oil painting.
