Battlefield Views

Battlefield Views is a 8x12in soft pastel painted on the Manassas Battlefields in Virgina. I was set up by the edge of the tall grass, looking out to the fields and mountains beyond, reflecting on how civil war soldiers were standing in the same place all those years ago. This tree is not one of the old "witness trees" but it does stand out in its own beauty in the field amongst the various colors of grasses and wildflowers. The sky was incredibly blue that day!
