Castle Hill and St John’s Chapel
This is a view from the top of Castle Hill in Cambridge with the chapel of St John’s College in the distance. I love the patchwork of pinks, greys and blues that the winter sunlight makes of the Tudor buildings near the river.
St John’s chapel dominates the skyline of Cambridge. It is as big as a cathedral but is merely the chapel of one of the many colleges here, albeit quite a big one, and the second richest in England, after Trinity. Alumni include winners of twelve Nobel Prizes, seven prime ministers, twelve archbishops of various countries, at least two princes and three saints.
