Oil on canvas. The gold aspens in the area I live in are captivating , especially when they are full of gold and have not yet lost any leaves. I was fortunate while out in nature searching for and creating reference material for a larger painting, to capture a moment of sunlit aspens against a dark sky. I loved the contrast and pushed the colors , adding the elk I had captured earlier, to create a mood of a serene autumn day.
