'The Gardens of Pienza' is a pastel painting on 14"x 11" sanded pastel paper. I painted this from my own photo reference on a visit to a small 15th centuries town in Tuscany, Italy. I caught the detail of the nooks and crannies showing light, shadow and depth. The colors are reflected on these old walls and steps. The colors of the pottery and plants show the diversity of the scene.
