John's Garage

John's Garage, painted entirely plein with oil, holds a special place in my heart, as it was essentially my way of gaining approval of my then girlfriend's fathers approval, so that I could pop the big question. You see, my future father in-law, who also happened to an art historian and academic at a leading university, was reportedly determined not to like any suitor his eldest daughter would bring home, so I had a lot to prove. I staged this plein air in his backyard and gave it my all, as he watched off in the distance. Apparently, I succeeded, as I am now happily wed to his sweet daughter, with his blessings.
