I was captivated by the glow of the rising sun brushing over the tips of the trees and brightening the mist that rose off the water as the air warmed, the contrast of the dark and cool shadows giving way to light. The window to catch this moment was brief - I came back to it painting en plein air over multiple days and then created a larger paitning later in the studio.
